The Maze by Catherine Coulter

This is the second book in Catherine Coulter's FBI Series.  I read the first, The Cove, quite a while ago and enjoyed it so I decided to give the series another read.  This one took a while to really engage me, but once it did, I didn't want to put it down.  The crime solving took quite a twist at the end and there was even a nice love story thrown in.  I am now reading the third book in the series, The Target...I'll let you know how it goes.

An Ice Cold Grave by Charlaine Harris

This is the 3rd book in the Harper Connelly series by the author of the Sookie Stackhouse/Trueblood series.  I have now read all of the books in this series, somehow I read 3 and 4 out of order, and honestly I like these better than the Sookies.  Harper was struck by lightning when she was a young teenager and since has been able to sense where dead bodies are located and see through the deceased eyes how they died.  She and her stepbrother take her talent on the road when they become adults and use it as their career.  There is a lot of mystery, a little bit of paranormal, lots of humor, and a little romance mixed into each novel.  I hope there is another novel in the series forthcoming!

LIfe, Love, and a Polar Bear Tattoo by Heather Wardell

I'm not a huge fan of love stories, much like I'm not a huge fan of love songs, but something about the title of this book struck me and compelled me to buy it.  Within the first few pages I was enthralled and had trouble putting the book down.  I loved the main character, Candice, and her quirky group of friends.  It is an endearing story with a happy ending.

The Queen by Steven James

This is the fifth novel in the Patrick Bowers series by Steven James.  I have read all 5 and will continue to read any additional sequels.  Bowers is an FBI agent that specializes in geospatial profiling.  Most of the crimes have military involvement, which usually is not my thing, but I really like these!  Bowers has a great array of characters surrounding him and the interpersonal issues he faces in each novel are as heated as the crimes.

The Tension of Opposites by Kristina McBride

This is a teen novel, but nothing like the vampire/werewolf books that are running rampant in that age level.  It is about a teen girl's coming of age and dealing with the reappearance of her lifelong best friend that was abducted 2 years before.  I highly recommend this one!

13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson

This was a light hearted, cute story about a young woman who's deceased, favorite aunt sends her on a scavenger hunt throughout Europe with 13 posthumously-delivered letters.  It was a nice change of pace from the crime-solvers and paranormal novels I usually read.  Not sure if I'll go out of my way to read the sequel, but I did enjoy this one.

Thought I'd share my opinions of the books I read.

I am an avid reader and even though I have some favorite authors and series I am loyal to, I am always looking for something new and interesting to read.  I assume there are more people like me out there, so I thought I would start sharing my thoughts and recommendations of the books I read.  Feel free to comment back or make recommendations of your own for me.
